I love God but hate religion – agree?

posted by admin

We don’t need religion. We don’t need old, irrelevant, biased corrupt doctrines, we don’t need a set of rules, we don’t need corrupt officials of the church telling us how to live. Lets get rid of the churches, all of the bibles, everything. Just love God without all of that extra nonsense that is garbling the message all up and preventing peace on earth.

We need to throw all of that in the trash because all that matters is we start loving everyone and healing the world right now- no more religion. You can love God but love your neighbor the same way you love God.

All we need to do to heal the world right now is to stop talking about how and why and just do it- we all know how, we don’t need anyone to tell us how, and religion is just getting in the way.
Proverbs 1:7… you need someone to tell you how to love? I sure hope not.

You don’t need someone to tell you these things; if there is not scientific proof of God, then why do you think he has anything to do with these doctrines? Doctrines are human creations, not creations of God.
God is a feeling that lives within us. You can choose to believe that it is real, or not real, your choice. But only pain can come from trying to sit down and figure out why and how God wants you to do this and that and one must realize that if God exists, no one knows what his true word is for sure (since there are so many floating around) so how could he (or it, or the life force, whatever you specify as God(s)) ever get mad at you for tossing out religion and healing the planet without it?
Tracy; I did not quote from the Bible; that is someone’s user name, which would have been strikingly obvious to you if you would have actually read the words following it.
Doesn’t anyone understand? Don’t you see how many religions there are? If you pick one, you automatically clash with some of the others… as long as this is going on there will not be peace.

…And, someone said we need Church to keep our faith alive; but why? Is your faith so weak that you need to have it reinforced constantly? If you truly have faith nothing could ever make you doubt it, therefore you don’t need all the extra.

Am I the only one who sees all of this pain? Religion has never been able to solve it; what makes you think thats going to change?

If we stop worrying about how and why and what we should do to love and just do it using our intuition we will find the way… don’t you think? If you believe the word of God has manifested in all of these other things, why not within yourself?
The Bible is not a love letter from God. It is a book, written by people, just like you and me, with their own motivations and desires. Accept this fact and maybe, just maybe, you can love the way God truly wants you to; the kind of love that doesn’t take need definition and words. Even if you were wrong, and the Bible is the word of God, do you think he would smite you for attempting to heal the planet without it?
So proverbs, you are saying that your religion is better than all of those others? You, and they, are all part of the problem. You completely illustrate my point.

  1. Loathing Said,

agree. i wouldnt go as far as to say hate though…

    /*/*/
    to Proverbs 1:7
you dont need anyone to tell you god exists… you explore it for yourself.
i think if EVERYONE ignored all religions, and previous ideas about god… we would all make more educated decisions about if there is one or not.

  2. Matthew Said,

I love religion but hate God. Just kidding, I don’t like religion.

  3. Starfire Said,

    Somewhat, but not completely…

  4. skep-doc Said,

    no
I hate religion and don’t believe in god.

  5. Robopacolypse Said,

Couldn’t have said it better. Religions are just “Who’s God’s best mindless slave” contests. The whole point of most religions is to accept a pre-written belief, surrender your own thoughts, and mindlessly worship…just so you don’t “get in trouble” at the end. If there really is a God, then he’d want people to make up their own minds. Only a megalomaniacal vindictive sociopath would condemn people for “getting it wrong” and not following the right religion. I just don’t think an all powerful being would ever do something like that. A loving creator would want us to take care of each other and the planet we live on…not fight over who can bow down and worship the best.

  6. Story Junkie Said,

    You dishonour your ancestors
    Blasphemy!

  7. Ken Said,

right on. Religion don’t save people. Jesus saves people.

  8. arily666 Said,

No -do away with god and develop the morals….

  9. Proverbs 1:7 Said,

You have a bunch of flaws in this idea of yours, 1 of which is, if you chuck all religeous books and teaching out the window, how do you know how to love God? how do you know who God is and how to respect him? How do you know God?

In your Q. u say to love God. Yes, if you have know knowledge of God, how do you know how to love him? the PAgans in CEntral AMerica 1000 years ago thought there gods called for human sacrfice.. they thought that was how they were to love their gods.. Are you saying they were right?
I know they were wrong, but hey, according to your theory of just going by our own feelings, that was there feelings.. so maybe they were right to you?

In Egypt they killed the servants when their pharoh died so the pharoh could get to their heaven quicker. You say to love your neighbor too. WHo where they to help, their king, (who you might be able to call a neighbor) or the servants? they chose their king..

Do you see by these examples that we do indeed need instruction in how to love our God? These pagan cultures left to themselves came up with quite cruel practices that they thought was helping their neighbor AND loving their god(s).
Did you really mean to say they could have been right?

I know that the Bible is God’s Word. You may doubt, but i dont.
If i was you, i would be scared to death of dieing, not knowing what was going to happen to me..

Obviously intuition hasnt worked in the past… what makes you think that you finally, of all the cultures that have ever been, finally has the ability to do it right?

If you would read the first and second paraghragh, you will see why just loving through gut feeling does not work to well…

To answer the last question, yes i do believe God will punish people for rejectinghis word… it does say that in the Bible..

And my examples illustrate my point that your ideal world just doesnt happen in real life.

  10. Mashiyach DOT com Said,

    agreed…till I found Messianic Judaism….

  11. riverkid01 Said,

I agree with you that religion is not beneficial to anyone. However, chuch can prove to be very beneficial and necessary. The rules we do need to follow are outlined in the Word of God. Without God, nothing could be possible.

  12. Ra Said,

    I completely agree.

But therein lies the problem. Who then is to say who or what God is? Answer me this, and I will sleep better at night.

  13. one under god Said,

to hate anything is to hate god
that you did to the least you do to god the most
hate is a poisen , god is all to hate even one small part is yet to hate
    god is love /light /life /reason
    hate is unreson
religions are as school ,what school is only im[portant to elitists , in heaven all are equal whatever thier race /sex or belief
if you love love for god
if hate the hate is of the self[those harved types ;its as bad as racists]

  14. kuantanpioneers Said,

no, i don’t agree. It has been through God’s inspiration that the founders of the world’s religions were raised up to who they became. God gives portions of his truth to those who are sufficiently ready to receive it, in order that all of his children may receive of his light at the right time and in the right way. So you cannot say you love God and then claim to hate the works of his hands!

  15. JoMo Rising Said,

To love your neighbor is to obey God. To love God with all your strength is to obey God.

God has rules that (God) would have us live by. They are not suggestions. God is looking out for us by giving us a structure that is good for us.

That said, there is a lot in RELIGION that is bad.

    JoM

  16. ajj085 Said,

i do agree. I think that religion makes people stupid, flat out. On the other hand, spirituality in its many forms makes us better.
I wouldn’t say throw out all the Bibles, cuz it’s historically relevant and helpful for spirituality in some parts.

  17. Steve Said,

If we only had never sinned, I could agree with you whole-heartedly. But we did, and I can’t. Indeed, had we never sinned, that’s exactly the way it’d be, but we did and its not. Sin exists and it has a penalty. You can pay it yourself or accept God’s payment for it.

  18. grlshadow Said,

Your feelings are understandable because the world’s religions have cause much suffering and many have blasphemed God’s name by committing atrocities in the name of God. He does not approve of such religions.

However, since ancient times, God has always willed to have humans worship him together as a people. The Israelites were His people thousands of years ago and they worshipped him together. This was pleasing to Him. He blessed them. They had religious festivals and celebrated and worshipped together and this brought God’s blessing.

King Solomon who was blessed by God with great wisdom, was called the congregator. (Eccl. 1:1,12). He gathered God’s people together to worship God. One such instance was when he gathered his subjects to the newly constructed temple in Jerusalem. (1Ki 8:1-5; 2Ch 5:2-6.)

Much good can be accomplished by a group of people in the name of God. Unfortunately, many have abused the blessing of unity that God gave His people.

In Jesus day, he also approved of organized worship and true Christians were warned that there would be some who would speak against gathering in pure worship to God. At Hebrews 10:24,25 the apostle Paul said: “And let us consider one another to incite to love and fine works, not forsaking the gathering of ourselves together, as some have the custom, but encouraging one another, and all the more so as you behold the day drawing near.”

The true religion teaches what the Bible teaches. That is a force for good for many people. Many people’s lives have been changed for the better, much better, because of being taught what God teaches in the Bible. Hebrews 4:12 says: “For the word of God is alive and exerts power and is sharper than any two-edged sword and pierces even to the dividing of soul and spirit, and of joints and their marrow, and is able to discern thoughts and intentions of the heart.”

The early Chrisitians were repeatedly urged to gather and worship unitedly, because Jesus knew that taking a stand for what is right and good would be unpopular in this wicked world. So people need eachother to be encouraged to endure in their fine works. Without the privilege God has provided of His servants to gather together, it would be very difficult to continue doing what is right and keep their love strong for God.

The following scriptures show that God approves of organized worship. However, not of improper worship or worship in the wrong way. Only true worship. (Romans 1:12; Acts 20:28; Revelation 7:9,10; 2 Corinthians 11:28,29; 1 Thessalonisans 5:11; Acts 11:21)

Whenever God dealt with people, He has instructed them and caused them to assemble together in united worship and thanksgiving for their good and blessing. At Deuteronomy 31:12, 13, God told Moses: “Congregate the people, the men and the women and the little ones…..”

  19. Pastor Chad from JesusFreak.com Said,

Not all church officials are corrupt and not everything that is called “religion” is necessarily bad–what matters is where these things point people after everything is said and done. Christianity is a relationship with God through His Son, Jesus, not a system of rules or a hierarchy of officials. We can’t expect to find God if we throw out the Scripture He has given us that tells us who He is and what He is like.

  20. melgonz@sbcglobal.net Said,

I see what you trying to say now. You are undoudebtly very smart. But I don’t whether I should add more detail by using references from different religions? Do you want me to keep going into it becuase I have a lot to say?

Most definetely. YOU are your own salvation. Just look around. Find a park or favorable spot to stroll by and watch GOD in action. It is that inner-knowingess that everything is already perfect, which is going to get you where you want to be.

As a buddhist, we believe that truth comes from within and not necessarily from without. (Truth = GOD = Soul = reality) Of course, the oppose is also true: I can never know anything to be true. In the end, you are what you believe because you are an of extension of God’s infinite power to create from within. That is all that matters.

Mostly I agree with you, but some religions do stress tolerance and are able to live in harmony with others, the first two being one of them. One day Islam will be producing the same level of cooperation that Christianity is now:

    1) Taoisism and Buddhist are disciple-level religions (live for others + beyond)
    2) Christianity is an Aspirant-level religion (democratic-thinking)
    3) Islam is an Individual level religion (live for oneself)

In responce to Tracy’s answers below: That may not be entirely true. The first act of sin preceding humanity’s sin was when Lucifrer claimed he would usurp the role of GOD. He then tricked Adam and Eve to repeat sin in the garden by trusting the devil to teach them about good and evil instead of letting GOD do it…can you ever really know that he had no other input?

  21. tracy211968 Said,

You want to throw away the Bible, but then you quote from it. The Bible is God’s Word, how are you going to know how and what to do if you don’t read and study the Bible. God has set down laws, we get those laws from the Bible.

  22. elkejane Said,

I think that is a cop out…. but then, it depends on your definition of religion. If it’s church you are talking about…. we need it. We need to be surrounded by a body of believers, it is powerful and we need it. We grow complacent on our own, and, we can be renewed by praising and worshiping God together. Also, I do know that the bible says that God chose the foolishness of preaching to save those who would believe, and for us not to for sake the assembling together of ourselves in his name.
As far as denominations… I could live without them, but I’m not going to go around bashing them. There are other things to bash higher on my list.

  23. qwid_pro_quo Said,

    spiritual anarchy

… first thing we do, is kill all the preachers :P

hopefully there will always be place in the world for for people to express their beliefs, be careful what you wish for

  24. shaolinmantis77 Said,

Do what you want to do, but I’m keeping my bible.
I love reading my bible. I love religion too.
Do you know what true religion is?

    Jam 1:27
    “Pure religion and undefiled before
God and the Father is this,
To visit the fatherless and widows
in their affliction, and to keep himself
    unspotted from the world.”

  25. personal.pastor Said,

    Let’s define terms first.

Religion is created by humans who think they’re doing something that God wants them to do.

A relationship is what God actually wants with humans.

Loving God is good, but without the history of God’s relationship with humans, that might be tricky. And I can not love my neighbor in the same way I love God – I’m not going to pray to my neighbor, worship my neighbor, or be saved from judgment by my neighbor – totally different kind of relationship and a totally different kind of love!

Mostly I agree with you – people tend to have an inborn sense of right and wrong. I love God and hate religion, but the Bible isn’t part of religion, it’s a love letter from God, so I’d hesitate to toss that out. Churches are meant to support people on a regular basis as they go about healing and loving, so I don’t really want to get rid of them either. Otherwise, yes, people need to get up off the sofa and do something.

  26. jo Said,

I agree that there’s a difference between faith and religion, to be faithful and not religious. Sounds healthy and rational. Yet I think this extremism regarding anti-religion stuff is as damaging as the religion itself. If you’re trying to gather people to fight against religion, you’ll end up creating a new religion.

  27. jon Said,

I do believe in a god but i think religion is the dumbest idea ever. I also think that if god is willing to send you to hell for eternity just for not believing, then god is just as bad as humans. If you follow religion then your just following a list of preset ideas that most likely go against another religion full of preset ideas. So how do you know which ideas are the true way to god? Well…you really don’t. You just go by what your taught and what your family believes.

I’m only 16 and i don’t believe in jesus or anything else because I don’t have a good enough reason too. The true god will know that i mean well.

If I was born into a family of satan worshiping maniacs, the chances of me following the same religion is pretty much 100%….
Don’t you think that if god wanted you to love him he would also want you to have a good enough reason to?

Anyways, your a fucking retarded dick sucker for following religion….

  28. BeautifulLady Said,

I did not read every comment, but I just wanted to say that I am so glad to see sites like these. I was brought up in church and I am almost 52 years old, but I am so tired of the bondage I feel with religion. I have in no way left the God that I believe I have met, but attending most church services makes me feel more fear, depression and stress trying to live up to the “Word of God”, with all of it’s multitude of translations and interpretations. I love the freedom of a relationship with my Heavenly Father without so many thou shalt not and thou must do, and if I don’t feel guilt until death then spend an eternity of unquenchable suffering. It’s just hard to believe in GOD IS LOVE sitting and listening to that and how much I let him down and disappoint him and make him angry and why he is going to send my hindu, muslim, and whatever friends to hell. If I’m wrong I hope he lets me know otherwise I just believe He is far more loving than religion has ever portrayed.

  29. Rama Said,

I love God, I believe in him and believe he’s watching out for each of us individually. But I have shuffled through numerous religions trying to find something I can belong to, non of them are big enough to incorporate my image of God.
I respect them, because they tried to conceptualize this greater power above us, but they are all man made and reflect the weaknesses of man.
Being raised in an atheist family wasn’t easy, I was always searching for something to cling me to earth.

  30. Chucky says Said,

    Listen here..

    Lets this be our pray,
Just like every child needs to find a place..
Religion is base on mans own perspective…we have no right to preach or teach the word of god who ever or what ever it or he or she is…we all know whats right and wrong nothing else is neccesary …the passages of the bible have been corrupted by society and I find it completly foolish to believe anything that has been presented in this day and time… on top of that, im tired….email me..later
“Love everyone, only than will we find our true salvation!”
