Trash Talk About Anything and Everything

by Michael Ignatieff Question by peace ~mea culpa~: Why do liberals “act” like they are for human rights but never want the responsibility of actually helping? I love how liberals claim to be all about human rights and humanitarian this and humanitarian that, but when it comes to doing what it takes to stop brutal violence, (for example, brutalizing women and children as means of torturing their fathers/husbands…only ONE of MANY examples of Saddam’s torture chambers), it seems the liberals “Do Not” think anyone with means and capablility should help those people getting brutalized & terorrized. It appears to me, that if the liberals walked by a person, whom could not defend themselves against an attack, (eldery, child, disabled, etc..) they would just *keep on a walkin*. When criticizing, they actually ask what war is good for? IMO, war is NEVER “good”, but sometimes necessary to save others. For starters they shold ask the previous More...

Question by Giggidy the great: How will “liberals” react if they find out that I am a minority and I lean Republican? I wonder, since for a long time they have tried to tell me that Republicans don’t welcome my kind yet a lot of these “educated” Liberals can’t seem to take their mind off the fact that I am an Indian guy. Sure my family is from India but I am a US Citizen and consider myself ever bit as American as anyone else. I am just wondering though, if I tell “liberals”, those “tolerant” people that I am a conservative and I lean Republican, will they put that fact aside and still be my “friends” or are they just going to show their true colors and bash my heritage along with my political views? by pfig Question by Case: Do the people who attack “socialism” really hate socialism or is it state capitalism they despise? Since all previous regimes that called themselves “socialist” were clearly state capitalism, perhaps they should be directing their anger at that. I’m socialist and I do not support big government. I support the abolition of governments worldwide and the establishment of a resource-based society that fosters community well being while ensuring the development of the individual as well. There is no coercion by either government nor by economics. There is no exploitation. It is a society in which all people pursue their own desires that ultimately benefit the community, and all resources are used much more efficiently than the waste that is inevitable under a profit-based system. Therefore we will not produce items that do not intend to last, cause severe environmental damage, while neglecting the starving people of potential resource More...

by The Field Museum Library Question by Law Man says let the FACTS rule: Do you think Cons are confused when they think Liberals “envy” the rich and that is what motivates us? Best answer: Answer by Only 1Conservatives are clearly clueless as to what motivates us to object to 400 Americans owning more wealth than the bottom 150 MILLION American families. Do you get that? 400 people — 400 people! — own more wealth than 150 million American families. How is that possible? How in God’s name is that OK? It is baffling to me how anybody could NOT object to the Grand Canyon-like chasm between the wealthy in this country, and the average working American. It’s unholy. To the guy below me — thanks for proving my point. Nobody “hates the rich” fool. We’re objecting to an unjust system. Sorry that’s too many syllables for you. Give your answer to this question below! Question by crabby_blindguy: The right-wing says they are against “socialism,” but? They keep supporting socialist programs. For example, they support highway funding. But socialism is defined as state wnership of the means of production and distribution–and the highway system is certainly a crucial part of that. And that’s just one example. . . . hawoodwhy–in theory, either socialism or communism refers to community, not the state. Marx’s work makes that clear–he did not envisage the “dictatorship of the proletariat” as anything other than a transition to a community-based system of mutual ownership of the means of production (that that was unworkable in practice is, of course, the fatal flaw in his vision). BUT-in practice, either socialism or communism boils down to state ownership/control of the means of production–limited , in the case of socialism, total, in the case of communism. BTW–I’m not suggesting th More...
